Advanced chemistry
to enable the earth
as a chemical reactor

Targeting iron-rich resources in the subsurface, Addis leverages oil and gas techniques to inject engineered fluids that harness the chemical and thermal potential of the earth to produce clean ammonia.

The next energy revolution is here. Addis Energy is developing a new subsurface resource—unlocking energy abundance and affordability.

What We Do

Using technology developed out of MIT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and backed by world class investors, Addis is scaling a fundamentally new process to replace the energy and carbon-intensive process of traditional ammonia production.

In a similar process to green ammonia, which uses hydrogen produced by splitting water via an electrolyzer, the chemical potential of iron in the subsurface can be a conduit for splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. This hydrogen is then free to react and produce ammonia in a process that is cheaper and less energy-intensive.
