Advanced chemistry
to enable the earth
as a chemical reactor

Targeting iron-rich resources in the subsurface, Addis leverages oil and gas techniques to inject engineered fluids that harness the chemical and thermal potential of the earth to produce hydrogen, ammonia, and other chemicals.

The next energy revolution is here. Addis Energy is developing a new subsurface resource—unlocking energy abundance and affordability.

What We Do

Using technology developed out of MIT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and backed by world class investors, Addis is scaling a fundamentally new process to replace the energy-intensive process of traditional hydrogen, ammonia and chemical production.

The chemical potential of iron acts as a naturally charged battery that Addis discharges in a “iron rusting” reaction, splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. Addis can then purify and sell hydrogen, or react it to form ammonia or other critical chemicals, in a process that is cheaper and less energy-intensive.
